My
client wanted a camping theme for her son's bedroom. I started with murals &
stencils on the walls. A pine tree, a deer munching on a leaf, a compass on
the floor, and animal tracks all over one wall.
My
client wanted a new look for her bedroom. I started with removing all the old
floral wallpaper. I painted all the walls a beautiful green and applied a subtle
sponge effect using a lighter green on the wall behind the bed. She wanted to
keep her original bedding. We found some complimentary fabric and I made tent-flap
curtains and coordinating pillows.
Gail wanted a
leaf motif in her bathroom. I talked her out of wallpaper and into a wall
mural (much easier to change--since I just finished removing her old wallpaper!
What a job!) I used handcut stencils for the leaf shapes and then used sponges
for color and shading. I free-handed the branches.
We both
love how
it turned
out.
My
client just got a new black sofa and wing chair. All the walls were beige.
We decided to paint an accent wall. We chose a coral color picked from the
floral fabric and ragged it on over the beige. We picked out some designer
fabric for pleat valances and accent pillows. We had a mirror mounted into
an old frame that we distressed. Add some old iron sconces and some Parisian
paintings and the room comes together beautifully.
Diane
was ready to redo her living room. The rule was we had to keep the blue furniture
and blue carpet. I decided to go with an americana color scheme - blues, tans
and dark reds. I removed layers of old wallpaper (notice a theme, here?) Painted
the ceiling, the walls and the brick a Tuscan Beige and changed out all the
black trim to a crisp Swiss Coffee. I accented the brick with deeper tan shades,
then color washed two accent walls. I made new valances and toss pillows and
we bought new light neutral curtains. I recovered the barstools in a burgundy
vinyl. The room is much lighter and cozier now.
Jean
had severe water damage here from a broken water heater. The carpet and the
wallpaper had to go. We decided to finish the walls with a colorwash using two
subtly different tans over a white basecoat. We decided that I would paint the
concrete floor and we agreed on this pattern. We are both very pleased with
the end result..
Shelby
was
ready for a
change in her
kitchen. Her
dark wood
paneling and
cabinets made
her kitchen too
cave-like. She
decided to keep
the country motif, the blue plaid wallpaper and the yellow countertops and backsplash.
We tackled the dark paneling first. We covered it with a blue denim faux finish.
The effect is amazing, everyone thinks it's real fabric on the walls! Next we
painted the cabinets (AND THE REFRIGERATOR!) a bright white. Instant
lightness!! We picked up the yellow color in our window treatments. We painted
a wooden spindle ladder (made for porches) and backed it with some yellow scrim
to cover the light over the sink. Add a simple checkerboard stencil to the drawers
and you have a new kitchen.
A
long neglected kitchen that had ugly royal blue walls. I changed out the royal
blue for a creamy tan. I painted the trim a smoky blue. Then I added a three
layer stencil of berry branches all around just above the chair rail. I added
a blue checkerboard to the cabinet doors and the curtains. Instant cozy country
kitchen!
